ASH Journal Club: January 24, 2024, 3:00-4:00 PM Eastern
The ASH Journal Club is a series that highlights seminal papers in hematology published in Blood, Blood Advances, Blood Neoplasia, and Blood Vessels, Thrombosis, & Hemostasis and features a manuscript author as part of the engagement. Join us on January 24th, 2024 to discuss “Platelets mediate the clearance of senescent red blood cells by forming pro-phagocytic platelet-cell complexes,” Blood (2023). Published to First Edition on November 22, 2023. DOI: https://doi.org/10.1182/blood.2023021611.
Learning Objectives
Come learn about how senescent red blood cells (RBC) are bound to platelets, forming platelet-RBC complexes which are selectively consumed by erythrophagocytes and how a sufficient supply of platelets is required to maintain efficient complex-dependent clearance of senescent RBC.
