A STAT5B–CD9 Axis Determines Self-Renewal in Hematopoietic and Leukemic Stem Cells

Short name: ASH Journal Club - August 2, 2022 11 am - 12 pm Eastern
Course start date: 10/22/2021

Description

ASH Journal Club: August 2, 2022 at 11 am - 12 pm ET

The ASH Journal Club is a series that highlights seminal papers in hematology published in Blood and Blood Advances and features a manuscript author as part of the engagement.  Join us on August 2 to discuss A STAT5B–CD9 axis determines self-renewal in hematopoietic and leukemic stem cells.

The discussion will feature special guest and lead author of the paper, Sebastian Kollmann, PhD from the University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna. Three moderated discussions will take place on the following topics:

  • Aspects of basic biology, moderated by Luisa Cimmino, Ph.D., University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine
  • Troubleshooting techniques, moderated by Anna Marneth, PhD, Brigham and Women’s Hospital-Harvard Medical School
  • Clinical implications, moderated by Karen-Sue Carlson, MD, PhD, The Medical College of Wisconsin

Learning Objectives

In this session of the ASH Journal Club, we will discuss why it is necessary to consider the two highly similar STAT5 proteins as distinct entities. Attendees will learn about different functional aspects of STAT5A and STAT5B in hematopoietic stem cell biology and leukemia.
