Description
In this webinar, we will describe some of the biophysical properties of the nascent bone marrow human reticulocyte right after enucleation. We will further discuss the proteome of these immature cells and how it compares to the more mature ones previously described in the literature. We will finally contextualize this study within the broader scope of anemia involving reticulocytes, such as sickle cell and Plasmodium vivax.
Learning Objectives
- Understand that deformation-based studies show a correlation between the membrane linkage and decreased expression of surface proteins during nascent reticulocyte maturation.
- Understand that nascent reticulocytes exhibit distinctly unique proteomes compared with mature reticulocytes.
- Understand the implications of proteomics analyses on nascent reticulocytes for the study of anemia.
Target Audience
